"I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit." (John 15:5)
We desire to be a community that seeks to abideinCHRIST, branch out in COMMUNITY, and bear fruit in COMPASSION.
abide inCHRIST
We first desire for our community to experience devotion in following Jesus. Jesus magnetically drew people to Himself with two powerful words- “Follow Me” (Mark 4:17). We believe the first step in following is spending time with Him in devotion, or in Jesus' own words "Abide in Me, and I in you." (John 15:4). At Magnolia we encourage everyone from toddlers to the golden agers to open our hearts to Jesus daily through Scripture, prayer, meditation, and worship.
branch out inCOMMUNITY
After devoting ourselves daily to Him, it seems natural to ask- “what now?” This is why we believe God has given us the church. We are able to find our direction in life together. Jesus said, "I am the vine, you are the branches." (John 15:5). At Magnolia, we want to help build each other up for the journey, drawing strength from the same Vine, branching out with each other in community.
bear fruit inCOMPASSION
"Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing." (John 15:5). As we abide in Him and branch out into our world, we seek to bear fruit in our compassion toward others. We cannot do this alone. We understand that Christ will lead us as the Good Vine, and bear fruit in us. We trust Him, and believe His words "By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples." (John 15:8). At Magnolia, we desire to not be a Christian by name only, but to invest in bearing fruit in our service within the Shoals, and beyond.
A Covenant of the Body of Christ at Magnolia Church of Christ
In a holy act of faith in Jesus Christ and a sincere desire to fully obey Our Lord according to His Word as we are enabled by His Holy Spirit:
We covenant before God to follow and serve our Lord Jesus Christ in harmony with one another.
We covenant to pray for one another asking God to bless the personal life and family of each of our brothers and sisters at Magnolia and to richly bless the ministry of each individual.
We covenant to employ our energies, time and resources to be effective witnesses of our Lord by encouraging and building up our brothers and sisters at Magnolia, thus building up the entire body of Christ.
With the help of God, we will not speak negatively or in a degrading manner about the life or ministry of any of our fellow members at Magnolia.
Together in Christ we will grow in effective service in His Kingdom to reach all people for Jesus Christ!
